A story on The Daily Beast interviews Blaine Pfeifer, associate professor of chemical and biological engineering in the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The article focuses on a new pneumonia vaccine that Pfeifer and UB spinoff company Abcombi Biosciences is working on that could prevent 72 forms of the disease as well as anticipate future versions of the bacteria responsible for pneumonia. “The premise behind this study was to try and design a vaccine for the current situation, but also the future,” said Pfeifer.
