As the Clerkship Director for 3rd and 4th year required Medicine Clerkships, my main interest is student education. My goal is for every student, regardless of their future career goals, to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide basic medical care to their patients. For the 3rd year students, I have developed a practical examination to assess interpretation of commonly encountered problems on chest radiographs, ECGs, hematologic smears, microbiologic samples and electrolyte disorders. The 4th year in-house exam requires students to manage 2 patients initial presentation to discharge in a step wise manner.
As a management attending on the inpatient teaching service at Buffalo General Medical Center, my focus is to serve as a role model for providing effective and empathetic care to all patients.
