Our strength in numbers allows us to provide care in a wide range of medical specialties, providing quality care from an expert clinician who understands your condition and can respond to your needs. UBMD physicians are not only board-certified doctors and surgeons but also the full-time clinical faculty of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. That means our providers keep current on the latest medical advancements and new, improved practices. Our doctors are continuously learning and advancing alongside students to provide them with top-notch education to prepare them for a successful medical career.

At UBMD, our patients receive expert care from physicians who are also world-renowned researchers.

Our History

Each UBMD practice has a counterpart Department at the Jacobs School, with the practice plan existing concurrently with the Department. In 2000, UBMD Physicians' Group officially formed, bringing all of the 18 practice plans together to move WNY healthcare better forward.

Community Involvement

Our work gets us noticed.

UBMD physicians make headlines for raising the bar on clinical care, leading community health initiatives and conducting groundbreaking research, among other advancements and accomplishments. Not only do we strive to provide the best, most up-to-date care, we also strive to help better our community as a whole.

As not only physicians but researchers, we work with our partners in the Buffalo Translational Consortium to continue innovating for better care, speeding the development of new treatments for disease, reducing health disparities and allowing more Western New Yorkers to benefit from clinical research.

Recently, physicians with UBMD Pediatrics and local families were part of a clinical trial that led to FDA approval of a new fast-acting insulin for children. We also have physicians leading the New York State Maternal Mortality Council and our team has been part of new research revealing how antiretroviral drugs may damage the hearts of infants exposed to HIV but uninfected.

To increase accessibility to participate in research, with the Clinical and Translational Research Institute, UBMD has launched a research table in the UBMD Outpatient Center waiting room on the fourth floor of the Conventus medical office building. This table has proven to be a powerful new tool in recruiting and informing the public about clinical and behavioral research studies. As they wait for their appointment, patients can peruse the literature from up to 25 clinical and behavioral studies currently recruiting volunteers. Patient ambassadors are on hand several days a week to facilitate questions and requests patients may have.

Everything our team does —in the research lab, in the classroom, in the exam room—is driven by our commitment to our patients and their health. With more than 500 physicians in 18 practices dedicated to you, UBMD Physicians' Group is the one source you can turn tono matter what.
