I am a cardiologist with specialized training in advanced cardiac MRI and a focused interest in cardio-oncology. My clinical and research work centers on cancer therapy–related cardiotoxicity, including immune checkpoint inhibitor–associated myocarditis and cardiovascular complications of CAR T cell therapy. I provide inpatient cardiovascular care at Buffalo General Medical Center and lead MRI-based imaging services at the Gates Vascular Institute.
My translational research program integrates magnetic resonance imaging, immunology, and molecular biology to investigate inflammatory cardiomyopathies. At UB’s Clinical and Translational Research Center, my laboratory develops tissue-targeted MRI techniques and applies them to preclinical and human models to study immune-driven myocardial injury. We are currently investigating T and B cell–mediated mechanisms using engineered cell-based assays, single-cell transcriptomics, and cardiac imaging to identify therapeutic targets in immune checkpoint inhibitor–induced myocarditis.
I actively serve on NIH study sections and editorial boards for cardiovascular journals. Equally important, I mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and research settings and precept cardiology fellows at the Heart and Lung Center at BGMC. This mentorship is deeply interwoven with my academic mission: while advancing my own work in cardio-oncology and cardiac imaging, I support the career development of trainees whose research is routinely published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences.
