As a Pediatric Nephrologist, my clinical responsibilities include the diagnosis and treatment of conditions including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, ESRD (end stage renal disease) requiring dialysis and/or kidney transplant, nephrotic syndrome, genetic and inherited kidney disorders, congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, hypertension, nephrolithiasis, and acute glomerulonephritis. I will also be caring for patients with rheumatologic conditions involving the kidney (primarily patients with Lupus) in our monthly combined Pediatric Nephrology-Pediatric Rheumatology clinic.
My research thus far has examined the development and clinical significance of metabolic acidosis in children with E. coli pyelonephritis. I have also served as a site PI for a multicenter study through the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium examining clinical presentation, treatment, and outcomes in pediatric patients with Tubulointerstitial Nephritis with Uveitis (TINU) Syndrome. I hope to ultimately involve our department in multicenter studies and trials to further understanding of pediatric kidney disease and advance treatment options.
I serve as an attending physician both on the inpatient pediatric nephrology service and in the outpatient pediatric nephrology clinic. As an educator, I am involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and advancing their clinical and career development.
