Dr. Johanna Innes is board certified in both Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and Emergency Medical Services (ABEM). She is Program Director of the Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. She serves as medical director for several local EMS agencies, including Eden Emergency and Rescue Squad and AMR-WNY. Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Dr. Innes began her career as a paramedic for Richland County EMS in Columbia, South Carolina. After completing medical school and residency training at Palmetto Health Richland, she came to SUNY Buffalo to complete a Fellowship in EMS. Her interests lie in prehospital care provider education, Graduate Medical Education, and research in EMS/prehospital care. She has spoken at the national level on topics in EMS, and serves on state, national and international committees with the National Association of EMS Physicians. In 2018, Dr. Innes was awarded the Wyoming-Erie Regional EMS Council Physician of Excellence Award.
