Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
Hello
My name is Manav Batra . I am a clinical Assiatant Professor at Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism at University at Buffalo.
I see patients with Endocrinological and hormonal problems at Diabetes Endocrinology Center of WNY at Maple road , Williamsville NY ,and ECMC Buffalo NY ,
Apart from taking care of patients I am involved in teaching of Medical students, Residents in Internal and Family Medicine and Fellows in Endocrinology. I believe that we need to pass the baton of knowledge to the new generation as it was passed on to me by my mentors
One of my other passions is Research . Research is an integral part of medical science . I believe that research leads to new discoveries for our betterment as a whole and what all we know about the disease and treatment is because of research and active participation of patients in those research projects.
Our Division is actively involved in clinical Research under the guidance of Dr Dandona and Dr Chaudhuri . We in our division have made some novel and interesting discoveries like anti inflammatory effects of insulin , effect of diet and macronutrients on inflammation, hypogonadism ie low testosterone in diabetes type 2 and obesity , and use of adjunctive therapies in type 1 diabetes to name a few .
All the research projects are approved by IRB ( Institutional Review board at University at Buffalo). Our Research Division is located at 1000 Youngs road in Williamsville .
Currently I am Investigating the use of GL P agonists ( Semaglutide- Ozempic ) and SGLT2 inhibitors ( Dapagliflozin- Farxiga) in patients with Type 1 Diabetes and Use of Intranasal Testosterone in patients with low testosterone.
Apart form this our Division is also involved in Research regarding Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease .
