Child Neurology; Neurology; Neurooncology; Oncology
I see patients at the UBMD Neurology clinic on Essjay Road in Williamsville and the UBMD Pediatrics clinic at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. I also see patients at the Western New York Psychiatric Center once a month.
My research has focused on childhood brain tumors. My current research interests include: clinical evaluation of chemotherapy in childhood brain tumors; long-term treatment effects of childhood brain tumors; pharmacokinetics of anticonvulsants; seizure disorders in children and pediatric neurooncology with emphasis on protocol development.
I mentor residents throughout their neurology training, supervise and organize weekly professor rounds, oversee a monthly clinical pathologic conference for residents, participate in weekly child neurology rounds and supervise residents weekly in clinic. I also deliver child neurology lectures to third- and fourth-year medical students.
I am deeply invested in graduating residents capable of delivering the highest-quality care possible to their patients and in developing in them an understanding of the role of research in medical care. The Department of Neurology’s annual resident's research day has been named in my honor. In 2013, my colleague Dr. Patricia Duffner and I created an endowment to help support the teaching and research needs of both the child and adult neurology divisions of the Department of Neurology.
