Nineteen faculty members with clinical and research experience have joined the departments of Biomedical Informatics, Family Medicine, Medicine, Orthopaedics, Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, Pediatrics, Physiology and Biophysics, and Psychiatry.
John C. Hu, MD ’17, PhD, is a clinical assistant professor of medicine.
He completed an infectious disease fellowship at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, as well as an internal medicine residency at the Jacobs School.
He received both his medical degree and his doctoral degree in microbiology and immunology from the Jacobs School.
His research focuses on emergent pathogens and infectious diseases.
Sarah E. DiPalma, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.
She completed a pediatric emergency fellowship, pediatric residency and internship, all at the Jacobs School.
Sara Lowmaster, PhD, is an assistant professor of psychiatry.
She was a postdoctoral fellow at Boston University School of Medicine/VA Boston Healthcare System.
Lowmaster also completed an internship and predoctoral Internship in clinical psychology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University.
Thomas M. Suchyna, PhD, is a research associate professor of physiology and biophysics.
He received his doctoral degree in connexin electrophysiology from the University at Buffalo.
His research focuses on membrane mechanical signaling complexes and their regulation by the cytoskeleton. He has a particular interest in the regulation of ion channels by mechanical stress.
Suchyna’s lab leverages imaging, genetics, molecular biology and peptide chemistry techniques to study mechanical stress and signaling in muscle and cartilage cells.
