Professional Summary:

I am a general pediatric pulmonologist who has a special interest in serving children with sickle cell lung disease and neuromuscular respiratory muscle weakness. As a general pulmonologist, I evaluate and treat children with pulmonary diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and chronic ventilatory failure. I aim to provide family-centered care that promotes wellness and quality of life. My outpatient practice is primarily located the 4th floor of the Coventus building and inpatient consultative practice is at the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.

I believe strongly in striving for equity in health care to ensure that all children with pulmonary disease are offered the full spectrum of respiratory care choices. For children with sickle cell lung disease, I have monthly multidisciplinary Sickle Cell Lung Clinics at Roswell Park in Buffalo and Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester. I participate in the Strunk Hematology and Pulmonary Educational Collaborative (SHAPE-C) - a collaborative of Sickle Cell Lung Clinics across the country that aims to improve the lung health of individuals with sickle cell diseases through evidence-based practices. I have worked closely with Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy to co-create educational resources and develop and revise respiratory care considerations for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. I also have served as a consultant for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking and Research Network (MD STARnet) and studied variances in respiratory care delivery for individuals with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies.

My other passion is teaching - especially preparing the next generation of physicians to provide care that is humanistic, holistic and person-centered. From 2015-2022, I served as an Associate Dean in the UB Office of Medical Curriculum as Associate Dean. I also have served as an instructor for the Jacobs (School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences) Educator Excellence Program (JEEP).
