An Amherst, NY native, Dr. Archer graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1990, proceeding from there to receive his BS in Biology from Cornell University in 1994. After finishing a Masters in Natural Science from SUNY at Buffalo in 1997, he attended the Howard University College of Medicine and graduated with his MD in 2001. He returned to Buffalo, completing his Pediatric Residency in 2004 and has been a Primary Care Pediatrician and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with the Jacobs School of Medicine since then. Dr. Archer recently served as the Physician Lead for the Niagara Street Pediatric Clinic and is currently the Interim Division Chief for the Division of General Pediatrics.
In addition to his clinical and teaching duties, Dr. Archer has been active in the Buffalo community, promoting education and excellence amongst both patients and students. He has served on the Education Committee for the Nativity Miguel School. He has been a Board Member and a Mentor for the SENSES foundation, a not-for-profit group that provides social and educational enrichment for at risk students in the Buffalo City Schools. In 2016 he was inducted into the Richard Sarkin Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which promotes and encourages the treatment of the whole patient. In 2018 he received the Clinical and Translational Science Award Scholarship Award and hopes to use that opportunity to expand the social services available to patients in need. Since 2020 he has served as a Board Member of the Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to comprehensively improving the prenatal and perinatal health for Women and Families in Western New York and is the current President for the Buffalo Affiliate of the National Medical Association.
