Dr. Manka currently serves as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Erie County Medical Center and the Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He is a residency trained, board certified Emergency Physician, Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and a member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. Along with overseeing the emergency department at Erie County Medical Center, he has been a member of the SUNY at Buffalo medical admissions committee and has served as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is president-elect of the medical staff at Erie County Medical Center where he serves on multiple hospital committees that focus on various hospital quality improvement activities. Dr. Manka’s research interests are focused on the care of trauma patients as well as emergency medicine administrative issues such as quality improvement, patient flow, and patient satisfaction.
