Professional Summary:

Dr. Ham graduated summa cum laude, with highest honors from the University of Georgia with a BS in Chemistry and completed a MS in Chemistry concomitantly. He graduated from medical school at the Medical College of Georgia at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA, and completed his general surgery training also at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. He completed his training in Pediatric Surgery through the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo, State University of New York at John R. Oishei Children‘s Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Interests of Dr. Ham‘s include Pediatric Surgery, Aerodigestive Surgery (including tracheal and esophageal surgery and lung lobectomies), Minimally Invasive Surgery, ECMO, Pediatric Surgical Oncology (cancer surgeries), and Clinical Informatics.

He is Associate Program Director for UB's Pediatric Surgery Fellowship, Surgical Director of Health Information Technology for Kaleida Health, the Pediatric Surgery Director of Oishei Children's Hospital's Aerodigestive Program, and the Oishei Children’s American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Project Surgeon Champion.

His research focuses on system and quality improvement, enhanced recovery in surgery, and informatics.

Dr. Ham is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group. He has received the Merck Manual Award, the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, and multiple teaching awards.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family of six and triathlons.
