Pediatric Rehabilitation is a wonderful field that enables me to help children overcome many challenges.
I treat children of all ages who have congenital or acquired disabilities, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brachial plexus injuries, spinal cord injury, gait abnormalities, toe-walking, hypotonia and spasticity. I am passionate about educating families regarding their child's condition and creating the best plan for progress during this critical time of growth and development.
In addition to functional assessments, I perform electrical stimulation-guided botox injections for children with spasticity. This is performed under general anesthesia so that children remain comfortable and avoid developing a negative association with the injections. Following botox, my patients undergo a burst of physical and/or occupational therapy to strengthen opposing muscles while wearing day or night braces that improve range of motion. With consistent exercise and bracing, children may see up to 12 months of benefit following one injection session. I am the only fellowship trained pediatric physiatrist performing botox injections in Western NY.
My clinic is located in the Robert Warner Rehabilitation Center on the 2nd floor of the Conventus building next to Oishei Children's Hospital. Injections are performed on the 2nd floor of the Conventus building in the Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Interests include pediatric neurorehabilitation and spasticity management.
