Primary Care

A physical (or annual or wellness visit) in a yearly appointment to see your doctor, address any health concerns and discuss preventative measures for your future.

A physical allows you to get to know your medical team, which will also help provide a baseline of your health and can indicate changes as you age. You'll also be able to discuss any health questions or concerns you have, update your medical and family medical history, including any other health care providers you may be seeing.

All ages are recommended to have a yearly appointment. This annual visit in an important part of your health care.

Sick visits are appointments with your provider to address new or worsening symptoms or health complications. Some examples reasons you may need a sick visit are:

• Sore throat or bad cough
• Stomach ache, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea
• Fever
• Dehydration or loss of appetite
• Bad headache or earache
• Unexplained pain anywhere in the body
• Lethargy/fatigue
• Chicken pox or another contagious illness
• Severe allergic reaction to food or insect bites
• Swollen arms or legs
• Hives or a skin rash
• Stiff neck or swollen glands

Typically, you schedule a sick visit to address an acute condition or injury.

Same-day sick visits are available for current patients.

Vaccines can prevent infectious diseases that could affect you or your child's health. Vaccines are developed for diseases that once killed or harmed many infants, children and adults. Without vaccines, your child is at risk for getting seriously ill, suffering pain, disability and even death.

It's always better to prevent a disease than to treat it after getting it.

• Vaccination is a highly effective, safe and easy way to help keep your family healthy.
• On-time vaccination throughout childhood helps provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases.
• Vaccines are tested to ensure that they are safe and effective for children to receive at the recommended ages.

Your provider can address any questions or concerns you may have about vaccines.

Women's health services include all aspects of primary care listed on this web page but also incorporates specific services, such as breast exams, annual gynecological exams, birth control prescriptions.

A gynecological exam will include a physical exam and screenings, such as pap smear, HPV or screening for sexually transmitted infection screening, if needed. 

A chronic condition is a health condition or disease that is long-lasting in its effects. The term chronic is often applied when the course of the disease lasts for more than three months.

Chronic conditions include:

• Diabetes 
• Obesity
• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Mental health (e.g. anxiety, depressions)

Chronic conditions should be managed to monitor the status of the condition over time. These conditions require regular monitoring to prevent the disorders from progressing to life-threatening levels.

Chronic disease management improves both health outcomes and reducing health care costs.

In addition to monitoring and treating mental health concerns, such as anxiety and depression, we also have a clinical psychologist as part of our medical team. The psychologist provides more in-depth mental health assessments and counseling.

Preventative screenings are performed to check your health status and keep you healthy. Some examples are cancer screening, depression screening, diet and obesity counseling, testing for sexually transmitted infections and blood tests. A blood test is a lab analysis of things that may be found in your blood. You may have blood tests to check your blood sugar, A1C, cholesterol, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and other important measures of health.

Minor in-office procedures include joint injections, removal of skin lesions, skin biopsies and more. If you're in need of a certain procedure, check with your doctor or call our office directly.

Our team provides specialty consultations for patients with alcohol or drug addictions. After consultation, our addiction medicine physicians can provide direct care to patients in need.
